What Makes Our Chaga Unique
Wild Alaska chaga is a slow-growing fungus found on birch trees throughout the boreal forest. Often described as an adaptogenic mushroom, chaga contains a complex range of naturally occurring compounds — including polysaccharides, polyphenols, and triterpenoids — that have become the focus of growing scientific research.
At Hammers Family Birch, we source genuine wild chaga conk through a trusted network of Alaska harvesters. Unlike products made primarily from cultivated mycelium, ours begins with the dense chaga conk formed naturally on birch trees in Alaska’s boreal forest.
Chaga’s relationship with birch is part of what makes it so fascinating. Compounds associated with birch, including betulin and related triterpenoids, have been identified in chaga and continue to be studied alongside its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulating activity.
We harvest selectively and process our chaga in small batches, respecting both the forest and a northern tradition that stretches back centuries.
